On July 30, a working meeting between the executive of the Municipality of Silves and the Directorate of Regional Development Services of the CCDR Algarve was held, with the aim of taking stock of the situation regarding the motorhome theme, assessing the impacts of the pandemic. in this segment of tourism and concert actions to be developed in the short and medium term.
In the municipality of Silves, 10 of the 33 legal spaces for the reception of motorhomes are part of the Algarve Region Caravanning Network (RAARA). Fundamentally, the aspects related to the very positive and constructive response of the municipality during the state of emergency and subsequent calamity were highlighted, with regard to the approach to motorhome. The executive's intention to continue its strategy of providing the municipality with legal spaces for hosting motorhomes was also reiterated, either by creating public offerings in low-density spaces or by being receptive to the intentions of the private sector. The implementation of the specific signage for motorhome, recently approved, will also be one of the tasks that the services of the municipality will develop in the short term, in the sense that it can contribute to the intended easy identification of the legal spaces that integrate RAARA.
The municipal executive also expressed the intention, in articulation with the other entities with competences in this broad field, to encourage inspection actions on illegal spaces and to eradicate the wild caravan spots still existing in the municipality.
